1. That he would get the US out of Iraq.
During his campaign in 2008, Obama promised to bring troops home within just six months of being elected. By 2009, he was considering extending troop withdrawal by 23 months. Later, he actually sent 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Troop withdrawal finally began in mid 2011. Now he and other politicians are eager for war with Iran, a country which Israeli officials have admitted poses no threat neither to them, nor the US; a country that cannot afford its own gasoline or airforce.
2. That he would shut down Guantanamo.
In 2008, Obama promised that he would shut down Guantanamo Bay within one year of being elected. Heads up, Guantanamo is still open and innocent civillians around the world are being secretly abducted every year, and this month marked its 10th anniversary. Great leadership, Mr. Obama. Just read this if you want a little taste of how bad it is. [link]
3. That he was against and would repeal the Patriot Act.
In 2005, Obama pledged to filibuster the Patriot Act calling it "just plain wrong". In June 2011, President Obama actually re-signed the Patriot Act, extending its provisions for four more years.
4. That he would veto the NDAA.
The NDAA is legislation that authorizes the indefinite military detention of US citizens and citizens around the world without trial. Obama argued it was unconstitutional and that he would veto it. He signed it on New Years Eve of 2011.
5. That he does not support bigger government.
In his speech to Congress during February of 2009, Obama stated that he does not believe in bigger government. Meanwhile, Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act provides for a national civilian military force that is "as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded" as the military.
6. That stimulus spending would keep unemployment below 8%.
In 2009, Obama signed his stimulus package into law, warning that if it did not pass, unemployment would rise to 8.5%. During the past 3 years, unemployment has risen as high as 9% even with the stimulus package. Meanwhile, 86% of the 700 billion dollar stimulus package was used for executive bonuses.
Note: This money does not come out of thin air. It either comes from your taxes, your parents taxes, or worse--it gets printed by the federal reserve. If it is printed, the value of your dollar goes down, limiting your purchasing power and causing prices to rise.
